Suki Blue Fiction
“Do you two ever not fight?”
It was a fair question, Clark had to admit. He and Bruce had never seen eye to
eye and, to be honest, it would feel mighty weird if they did. “Once,” Clark
said. “The fall of ’97. I’ll never forget it; it was a sunny, cloudless day and
Bruce and I had-”
Dick motioned for him to stop. “Okay, okay, don’t need the details. If I try
hard enough, I could probably remember myself.”
“You were pretty young.”
“Are you calling me old?” Dick asked.
“Old-er.” Clark stared off into a distant corner of the Batcave. He couldn’t see
Bruce clearly but he could hear the light scrape of boots as they lifted and
fell, lifted and fell.
Dick tipped his head in the same direction. “He’ll get over it.”
Clark laughed. “He hasn’t in all this time. Why should he now? I’m a danger and
I always will be.”
“Potential danger. And I hate to say it…”
“I know, I know, he does have a point. And now I’m a danger to you.”
Dick grinned and Clark felt the shivers as they climbed his spine and did the
helter-skelter back down again.
“I don’t mind a bit of danger, baby,” Dick said. His chin lifted and his eyes
roamed over Clark’s red and blue costume, mentally stripping him and caressing
the skin beneath.
Clark could practically feel Batman’s glare piercing him from the
shadows. Sometimes, just sometimes, Dick Grayson was completely shameless. Now
was one of those times.
“I should go.” He didn’t want to. Well, actually he did, but he wanted to go and
take Dick with him.
They had arrangements for later, a date, should circumstances allow it.
Their first date since their announcement to the JLA and the Outsiders that they
were attached.
“I’ll see you later, then,” Dick said. He hooked a thumb in Bruce’s general
direction and mouthed I’ll talk to him.
Clark nodded, although he didn’t expect Bruce to listen. And why should he? An
unchecked Superman was probably the most lethal weapon the world could face. And
there he was, asking for Bruce to accept that his son would be going to
bed with it every night.
Understandable.
But it wouldn’t stop him. It wouldn’t stop them.
Clark lightly kissed Dick’s lips to make the point and because it had been at
least twenty minutes since he’d last done it. “I’ll pick you up.”
